What is 4G?

March 13, 2015

4G is the fourth generation of mobile internet access technology introduced by International Telecommunication Union.

ITU has made requirements for 4G which are :

  • Maximum speed of 1 Gigabit for low speed communication like pedestrians
  • Maximum speed of 100 Megabit for high speed communication like in trains and cars

Although both WiMAX and LTE are marketed as 4G technologies, but still they don’t meet these requirements.
